  • Residents Express Concern After Fatal Collision

    MODESTO - Better lighting, a roundabout, added security. All improvements that were discussed between concerned residents on a sunny Tuesday afternoon at a busy intersection.  The same intersection where the night before 17 year old Joseph Thomas Johnson and his friend Eric Collins, also 17, were riding a bike when they were struck by a vehicle. Johnson was pronounced deceased at a local hospital, Collins suffered critical injuries. Witness accounts indicate the two crossed the street on a red light.   • TURLOCK -  A train stopped for a stalled big rig in Turlock has traffic stopped on the railroad up through Modesto. CHP received the call at about 1:15pm Wednesday. The Turlock train is stopped at Paulson and Daubenberger Roads according to the California Highway Patrol. A tow truck has been called out to move the truck from the railroad crossing.   • HUGHSON - Authorities with the California Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of a collision that claimed the life of a Riverbank man. The collision happened near Hatch and Geer Roads sometime overnight according to CHP Officer Charles Leon.  Investigators believe the man was traveling south on Geer Road, traveled across Hatch Road and crashed straight into the canal. A passerby noticed the red pickup's utility rack sticking out of the water Wednesday morning and called 911.     Fatal Crash Near Hughson

  • STOCKTON - Jaime Ramos, in custody for his alleged involvement in last Wednesday's robbery of Bank of the West, made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Ramos, 19, was slammed with 35 felony counts. Along with the murder charge of Misty Holt-Singh, he was also charged with the murders of his accomplices, Gilbert Renteria Jr. and Alex Martinez. He was also charged on 22 counts of attempted murder on peace officers. Other charges Ramos faces include robbery, kidnapping, carjacking, as well as gang enhancements.     Robbery Suspect Makes Court Appearance

  • MODESTO - Authorities with the Modesto Police Department say they have recovered various weapons after serving a search warrant at a West Modesto home Monday morning. The warrant was served at a home on Victor Court just before 9am by the Street Gang Unit, Narcotics Enforcement and SWAT teams. Authorities say 20 year old Famous Adams was identified as a shooter in a careless shooting incident in front of the home. Police say he is a documented gang member, a  convicted felon on probation and cannot possess firearms.     Police recover guns during search

  • MODESTO - Multiple fire crews are battling a structure fire on the 500 block of Crows Landing Road. The fire reportedly began just before 10am as a vehicle fire inside a shop. The fire then spread to the rest of the shop. Fire was visible through the roof when fire crews arrived.     Fire destroys Modesto auto shop

  • MODESTO - Emergency crews are responding to a report of a vehicle collision at Sylvan and Keller. Early reports indicate two children were struck by a vehicle. Significant injuries have been reported. Police are blocking off Sylvan Avenue at Oakdale Road. We'll have further updates as details become available.
