  • MODESTO - Officials with the California Highway Patrol are investigating a collision involving a motorcycle where the rider suffered major injuries. The collision was reported at about 1:22pm on southbound Highway 99 near the Tuolumne Boulevard offramp. The rider was found on the ground injured in the fast lane, the motorcycle, described as a black Honda, was located just ahead in the center lane.   • STANISLAUS COUNTY - Authorities have identified a man they say is responsible for setting fire to an occupied trailer on his property, causing a standoff early Sunday. George Nazar, age 51, was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges including three counts of attempted murder, arson, aggravated arson, and possession of a flammable material with the intent to burn.     Authorities Identify Man Arrested Following Standoff

  • RIVERBANK - Fire crews battled a brush fire in Riverbank on the 5700 block of Terminal Avenue Sunday evening. Traffic was closed off to the area as firefighters worked. Hoses were been pulled across Terminal Avenue to supply water to crews. Sheriff Deputies provided traffic control. Various crews including Modesto and Stanislaus Consolidated were called to the scene. Other agencies were called to provide station coverage for other calls. Alternate traveling routes are advised.     Firefighters Battle Brush Fire in Riverbank

  • MODESTO - Emergency crews responded to a traffic collision near the intersection of Standiford Avenue and Colonial Drive Sunday afternoon. The collision occured at about 4:40pm and involved what was described to be a BMW and another white vehicle. The BMW was occupied by a woman. Additional fire department resources were requested to the scene, as well as police for traffic control. Both westbound lanes of Standiford were blocked by the incident. Officials say they received a report at about 10:45am after receiving a report of a deceased body in a field near the 29200 block of Kasson Road in Tracy.   • DENAIR - Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office took a man into custody early Sunday after setting fire to a trailer and barricading himself inside a home. Officials say the trailer was initially occupied before it was set on fire, but the people inside fled. The incident began as a disturbance at the home on the 400 block of North Verduga Road.   • MODESTO - Emergency crews responded to a report of a fire near 5th Street in Modesto Sunday afternoon. The fire was initially reported as a vegetation fire that spread to a fence, but has reportedly caught a home on fire as well. Additional fire resources were called to the scene. Live wires were reported down behind one of the homes threatened by fire. The fire was reported around 3:17. An investigator was requested to the scene.
